Anti-Hezbollah publisher and documentary-maker, Lokman Slim, who predicted he would be mirdered by Hezbollah, found murdeed this morning in his car with gunshots to the head.
Here is a collection of tweets on this abhorrent crime.
In case you missed it, #Hezbollah opponent @LokmanSlim was murdered in south #Lebanon.

He was killed by gun shots straight into his head, after he was repeatedly threatened for his vocal criticism of Hezbollah and #Iran’s destructive rule in #Lebanon pic.twitter.com/uPT4LD8Zto
Watch: Lokman Slim's sister Rasha al-Ameer says the Lebanese activist was a brave and noble man and that his killing was decided “a long time ago,” but only the politicians can explain why he was killed now. #LokmanSlim https://t.co/I8CjUuqcsW pic.twitter.com/yNlt79rUnq

#LokmanSlim was one of bravest people I knew. Spoke his mind despite relentless threats.

•Killed in Hezbollah area
•No condemnation from Hezb & no mention on Al Manar TV
•Nasrallah's son tweeted: Loss of some is unexpected gain
Rest In Peace. 🌷https://t.co/z0uGhUWjdV
In case anyone has any doubt as to the murderers, these posters were plastered on the walls around Lokman Slim's home in Dahyeh in late 2019:

"Lokman Slim the traitor & collaborator."
"Glory to the one who silences his voice."
"Hezbollah is the honor of the Umma…" pic.twitter.com/Ye8MisdsWa
Lokman Slim was a brave and good man and this is a terrible, painful loss. My thoughts with all his loved ones and friends. I was honored to have known him. This is an excellent piece by @alexjrowell that does justice to this great man. https://t.co/JtLPlBsueC

As news of Lokman Slim’s death broke, the son of #Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah, Jawad Nasrallah, tweeted that “losing some people is actually a win and an unexpected boon #noregrets”
— Timour Azhari (@timourazhari) February 4, 2021
He has since deleted the tweet and said it had nothing to do with the death. pic.twitter.com/X66LKMWdAu
Heartbroken at the death of Lokman Slim. Will his murderers be brought to justice? Never. Lebanon is owned by hezbollah. Yet another disgrace for that once proud country. https://t.co/bY0BnvREjL

He introduced himself as a publisher, but #LokmanSlim was so much more: he created encounters where they were painful, he worked tirelessly to come to terms with the civil war and fought for a renewal of Lebanon.

An obituary @zenith_online #RIP #LokmanSlim #Lebanon #Syria https://t.co/HDMOzhiRKw
I hope foreign journalists will call things as they are: @lokmanslim was a fierce Hezbollah critic, spoke bluntly and publicly against their agenda in LB, he received death threats from #Hezbollah 2cease his public criticism, he was assassinated in Hezb controlled part of LB.

Lokman Slim & Hisham al Hashimi were killed by panicked Iranian proxies because they both exposed Iran’s regional criminal network accurately & effectively. They knew their killers. Iran’s sympathizers and tireless advocates of engagement & appeasement can no longer dismiss them. pic.twitter.com/9GAnBpuFAs

#LokmanSlim’s shocking killing raises serious fears of a return to targeted killings, fears made all the more acute by the prevailing culture of impunity.

Today also marks six months since Beirut explosion for which there has been zero accountability…https://t.co/QUPFz4Ea9Z
Look fwd to hearing from foreign leaders and their advisers how being “more realistic abt what is possible” in Lebanon wld have prevented the killing of Lokman Slim in the heart of Hezbollah-land. Or how a “better organized” civil society can change this decades-long impunity.

This is just the latest consequence of total & complete impunity for killers, war criminals and mass murderers in the Middle East for the past 20 years: #Hezbollah critic #LokmanSlim shot dead in #Lebanon https://t.co/BdaHza8uN2 via @financialtimes #Syria #Iraq #Iran #SaudiArabia
— Sam Dagher (@samdagher) February 4, 2021
I do not think many understand how brave #LokmanSlim was.
— Nervana Mahmoud (@Nervana_1) February 4, 2021
It is easy to oppose any entity from abroad.
But @LokmanSlim lived in south Beirut’s Hezbollah’s heartland —Dahieh, and spoke with eloquence and calm against #Nasrallah.
That is courage pure and simple.#لقمان_سليم
2-No, #LokmanSlim was not “a prominent Lebanese activist.” Lokman was a prominent anti-Hezbollah critic, among other things. We all know what he did, how was repeatedly and directly threatened by Hezbollah, and where/how he was murdered.
— Hanin Ghaddar (@haningdr) February 5, 2021
4-Urging the Lebanese officials to hold accountable “those who commit such barbaric acts” is like asking Hezbollah to investigate itself. We all know that said officials and the Lebanese security and judiciary systems are not to be trusted.
— Hanin Ghaddar (@haningdr) February 5, 2021
6-Lokman represented many of us in his work and fight against tyranny and Hezbollah’s terrorism. We should honor that and say things as he did. Lokman was not afraid. Lokman did not compromise on truth and freedom. And we should respect that.
— Hanin Ghaddar (@haningdr) February 5, 2021
8-This means that we should double down and contain their maneuvers and threats. If we do not, they will continue eliminating other critics who are still in Lebanon, and are today feeling left alone in their fight against Hezbollah’s fascism and terrorism.
— Hanin Ghaddar (@haningdr) February 5, 2021
10- Personally, I was “fighting” – to survive and preserve what is left. Today, I feel I have to “fight back” – not to preserve what is left, but to regain what we’ve lost. This is the only way to honor Lokman, his incredible courage, and his beautiful mind. RIP my friend.
